It was another busy night at Blackheath Halls last night. Upstairs in the Recital Room the opera chorus was rehearsing The Adventures of Count Ory and downstairs in the Great Hall Trinity Laban’s Sinfonia Orchestra was performing a programme of Brahms’ Tragic Overture Op 81, Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite 2 and Franck’s Symphony in D Minor. Robin O’Neill, conductor of the Orchestra Citta Aparta, L’Aquila and principal bassoonist of the Philharmonia Orchestra, was conducting.
Upstairs in the Recital Room Director Harry Fehr, assisted by Jack Furness, Assistant Director, was explaining the action to the chorus and their movements. Harry then worked with the tenors and basses, whilst the other chorus members either stayed in the Recital Room or mingled with the crowd in our cafe/bar.
At this stage I went home to watch the football with a group of friends. It would have been much better if I had stayed for the concert!
