The third performance of The Adventures of Count Ory

Tonight is our third performance on what is the hottest day of the year so far. Our beautiful Victorian building unfortunately does not have air conditioning and we have to make do with electric fans wherever possible. We have lots of water available and people are using their programmes as fans, in an attempt to stay cool. We have a few minutes left of the performance and the rain which was forecast has now start falling, bringing relief from the heat.

We were delighted to see Miriam Murphy in the audience. In last year’s Verdi’s Macbeth Miriam was an amazing Lady Macbeth and I can still picture Miriam in the sleepwalking scene! Good to see you back at the Halls, Miriam!

Tonight’s performance is sold out and people were queuing up for returns. Sunday’s matinee performance is also sold out. Great that so many people are coming to see our opera.

Here are a few ‘behind the scene’ photographs of tonight’s performance. This is the second and final performance for the young people of Greenvale School who have been great performers and on the photograph below they are posing with their teachers and our Musical Directore Nicholas Jenkins.
