What the audience thought of The Adventures of Count Ory…

Our audience enjoyed the performances so much that they have been emailing us with their comments. Here is a selection:

• ‘Outstanding evening last night! It gets more ambitious and better every year. Blackheath is very proud of you all!’

• ‘Congratulations on another splendid community success. It was lovely to have Rossini so wittily and cleverly achieved: the opening scene was fabulously entertaining! The director, as usual, despite limited resources, made fine and effective use of the hall, in both the disposition of the singers and the audience. The children were integrated beautifully and zestfully into the production. With excellent singers, chorus and orchestra, our experience of The Count Ory on a very hot Sunday afternoon, was sheer pleasure.’

• ‘I just wanted to say how wonderful the opera was this year. It really does go from strength to strength….You have certainly put Blackheath on the map!’

• ‘It was absolutely brilliant – better than ever. Yet again, the people management was so skilful, and the professionals raised the game hugely. Well done to you both and to everyone involved in making us so privileged to have this quality of event on our doorstep.’

• ‘…It was a highly professional job extremely well done and beautifully crafted by a group of super talented and generous people. Harry Fehr’s production was as amusing and thoughtful as ever……. and Nick Jenkins worked wonders with the orchestra. ….. It must surely be a sign of recognition that such superb singers as Anna Devin and Nick Sharratt want to participate in the project and give their voices, hearts and souls to every rehearsal and performance!’

• ‘Drunken ‘nuns’, dishevelled groupies & brotherly rivalry. @annadevin and @katehowden stood out at @blackheathopera. What a fabulous chorus!’ (via Twitter)

• ‘I never thought I’d say this about ANYTHING, but @Blackheathopera #CountOry is actually restoring a bit of my faith in Rossini comedy’ (via Twitter)

• ‘This was the fourth year I’ve attended – better and better each year! Such a wonderful combination of a really professional production and the fun of a local, very inclusive endeavour. I know it is a lot of effort – but well done! (Already, I’m looking forward to July 2015!)

• ‘The best Blackheath Halls Opera yet (until next year!)’
